Exhibition- Righteous Among the Nations- Jean Daman Scaglione
Jean Daman Scaglione was a teacher in Brussel. After the expulsion of the Jewish children from public schools, a school named ‘Nos Petits’ was formed to care for these children. Jean decided to join this school and teach Jewish children. Later, Jean and the school staff helped place those children with Belgium families to hide them from the Nazis, thus saving more than 2,000 children. Jean was also an activist in the Belgian Resistance Movement and helped them catch accomplices to the Nazi regime. After the war, Jean devoted herself to reuniting families that were separated during the holocaust.
In 1971 the Yad Vasem Institute knowledge Jean Daman Scaglione as Righteous Among the Nations.
