Title
The chosen people : the story of the '222 transport' from Bergen-Belsen to Palestine
Description
In the summer of 1944, while the Second World War was reaching its climax, a group of almost 300 emaciated and bedraggled Jews arrived by train in Palestine. Most of them came from Bergen-Belsen. The Germans had put them on a train, which carried them across war torn Europe to Istanbul, where- unknown to them- they were exchanged for a group of German civilian internees from Palestine. It was an extraordinary transfer and an extraordinary deliverance.
